What is Voltaren Ophthalmic used to treat?
It is used to treat the inflammation after cataract surgery. It is also used for the temporary relief of pain and sensitivity to light in patients undergoing corneal refractive surgery.

How do I take Voltaren Ophthalmic?
Voltaren Ophthalmic is taken as an eye drop. Always check with your own doctor, but typically the dosing is as follows:
  • For cataract surgery: One drop applied to the affected eye, 4 times daily beginning 24 hours after cataract surgery and continuing throughout the first 2 weeks after surgery.
  • For corneal refractive surgery: One or two drops applied to the eye that will be operated on within the hour prior to surgery. Within 15 minutes after surgery, 1 or 2 drops should be applied to that eye and continued 4 times daily for up to 3 days.
Caution: To prevent contaminating the dropper tip and solution, care should be taken not to touch the eyelids or surrounding areas with the dropper tip of the bottle. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.

How do I administer Voltaren Ophthalmic?
  • Tilt your head back and look upward
  • Use your finger to gently press the skin just beneath the lower eyelid, then pull the lower eyelid from the eye to make a space.
  • Hold the dropper above your eye and squeeze one drop into this space.
  • Let go of your eyelid and close your eye gently.
  • Blot around your eyes to remove any excess.
Caution: To prevent contaminating the dropper tip and solution, care should be taken not to touch the eyelids or surrounding areas with the dropper tip of the bottle. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
