Can I use Voltaren Ophthalmic if I wear contact lenses?
No, you should not concurrently wear soft contact lenses due to potential adverse effects. One exception is the use of a bandage hydrogel soft contact lens during the first (3) days following refractive surgery. Use of hard contact lenses is not recommended unless directed by your physician.

What are the most frequent side effects?
Voltaren Ophthalmic has been prescribed 3.7 million times over 10 years with an excellent safety profile. Voltaren Ophthalmic is contraindicated in patients concurrently wearing soft contact lenses and in patients who are hypersensitive to any component of the medication. Active ingredient: diclofenac sodium 0.1%. Inactive ingredients include: polyoxyl 35 castor oil, Boric acid, tromethamine, sorbic acid (2 mg/mL), edetate disodium (1 mg/mL), and purified water.

Precaution: Also, as with all ocularly applied nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, Voltaren Ophthalmic should be used with caution in surgical patients with known bleeding tendencies or those receiving medications that may prolong bleeding time.

Voltaren Ophthalmic is well tolerated; the most common side effects were keratitis (up to 28% of patients in cataract surgery studies), transient burning and stinging (approximately 15% of patients in clinical trials), and lacrimation complaints (approximately 30% of case studies of patients undergoing incisional refractive surgery).

For a complete list of side effects, see the prescribing information.

Can I take Voltaren Ophthalmic with other medications?
